Physical Therapy

Our supportive physical therapists work to improve general strength, balance, mobility and coordination using a variety of treatment strategies and equipment. It is our goal for your child to access his or her daily environment (community, home, school) as independently and safely as possible. Children with a deficit in strength, balance or mobility are at risk for further general delay as they continue to grow. At ICAN we work as a team to develop an individualized treatment plan catered to the needs of both your child and your family.

Physical therapy promotes:

  • General strengthening

  • Improved gait pattern and lower extremity alignment during mobility for increased efficiency and pain prevention

  • Support and education for orthotic and equipment management as needed

  • Meet gross motor milestones

  • Development of home exercise program for improved carryover

  • Providing education to family and other providers to promote strengthening and gross motor development throughout your child's typical day

Our Philosophy

At ICAN, our physical therapists are trained in child-led, strengths-based therapy that fosters connections between therapists and children in order to accomplish goals together. Our physical therapists acknowledge your child’s developmental, sensory, and communicative needs and adapt accordingly.

We provide one-on-one therapy sessions with frequent socialization opportunities with peers, and utilize a comprehensive interdisciplinary developmental framework by collaborating with families, occupational therapists, speech therapists, BCBAs, psychologists, school teams, and more.
